Hello, everyone. In this lesson, we're going to look at how to download and install gadgets in three easy steps. And I'm going to show you how in this video. And then I also have a PDF document below this video. If you want a breakdown, step by step, how to do it in your computer. So we can go back to our Vectric software and this is only going to be available in VCarve Pro, Cut2D Pro, and Aspire.

It's not available in the desktop versions. So we're going to go to gadgets and you'll see that there's already going to be some pre-installed gadgets in here that come with the Vectric software. And you can also see I have some external gadgets that I have installed. So to find more gadgets, there's two places you can do this, either on the Vectric website or in the Vectric forum for third party gadgets.

So if you click the about gadgets, you'll see this will be Vectric's website for their gadgets. So if you click on that link, that will open up this web page here where you can find more gadgets. And in the PDF document that I have included below, I also have the website for the gadgets as well as the website for the Vectric forum.

So you can click those as well. So in the gadget website from Vectric, you can see they have it broken down into different categories. So there's gadgets for drawing, for modeling, for toolpaths, and for job and file management. So you can select either category. These are all free. So you can download all of them or just the ones you want to use.

You also want to make sure your version number is specified for these gadgets. You'll see previous versions down at the bottom. So we're going to go to the drawing and you'll see many different drawing gadgets you can use here. And you just want to select the one you want. Let's say we wanted this spiral creator and then you'll see a download button right at the top.

And then down below, we also have the overview of what the gadgets about how it works and step by step on how to use it. And inside the Master Course, I also have this broken down in video lessons more in-depth on how to use each one of these gadgets. So all's we have to do is click download gadget and that will download that gadget to your computer.

And then if we go back to Vectric software and we'll close this down. To install the gadget, this would be your third step. You want to click install new gadget, and then right here will be that gadget we just downloaded. So select that and click open and then just agree to the license agreement and then you'll get this message that it's successfully installed.

So click OK. And now when we drop down the gadget menu, you could see we'll have the Spiral Gadget. Now you can open up and there it is. So that's how to install gadgets from Vectric's gadget website. To install third party gadgets, there's a little bit different steps you have to take. So I'll show you that process. So that's going to be in the Vectric forum.

You'll find many different third party gadgets that users have actually made and all of these are free in here as well. You just have to check with whoever made it, if they have any certain licenses or anything to use them. But most likely all of these are going to be free. So let's say we wanted this easy MDF cabinet door maker.

Click on that and you'll see the gadget right away. But what I recommend doing is always going down to the bottom of this page because they can do updates to the gadget. So if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you'll see multiple pages. So I always go to the very last page and then scroll all the way to the bottom.

And these will be the most recent post and then scroll up until you see this zip folder right here. So as you can see, this was a version update. So he has a description of what he fixed and any updates he made to the gadget. So this will be the one you want to download, which will be the most recent.

So as you can see, this is a zip folder. This is a little bit of a different file than when you downloaded from Vectric's website. So we're going to click on this and that's going to download to our computer as well, except this time we're going to open up that folder that it downloaded to. And you can see Vectric files come as a vgadget file type.

The one we just downloaded is in a zip folder. So in order to install this into Vectric software, we first have to change this file type. And to see that file extension, if you don't see it, you can go to view at the top of your window explorer and then make sure this option is checked right here to view file name extensions.

You'll see when you turn that on, you'll now see that dot zip at the end. So now we just have to rename this to be able to use it for Vectric software. So you're going to keep the folder zipped and you're going to right click on it and then you're going to click rename and then you're just going to erase that dot zip and you're going to type in vgadget and click enter.

And then when this message appears, just click yes. And now you can see that file type has now changed to be the vgadget file type, and now you can install that in Vectric software. So if you go back to Vectric, go to the gadget menu, click install new gadget, and we can find that easy MDF door maker, and click open and it successfully installed.

So click OK and then we can go up here to check and you'll see right there easy MDF door maker. And there it is. So that is how you can download external gadgets from Vectric's website and gadgets made by third parties. So like I said, if you want the PDF document that's listed down below under this video and that will be a step by step what I just showed you here.

And then also if you want to learn more on gadgets inside of my Vectric Master Training Course, I actually have a lesson on all of the gadgets here. And this will be for all of Vectric's gadgets, not so much the third party gadgets because there's so many of those. But I do have a lesson on all the Vectric gadgets in here.

And then that just one part of my course you could see if we go to the main course, I have a lesson on basically everything inside of Vectric software. So you can always look into this if you want to learn a more systematic approach to Vectric software, step by step. OK, so that's all for this lesson. If that helped you out, make sure you like and subscribe to more.
